To acknowledge this support, Storms Contracting Ltd sponsored Pauanui's very first Trolley Derby in April 2011 in the picturesque setting of the Pauanui Waterways.

The day was a complete success with around 15 children and 10 adults entering carts and over 100 people coming to show their support.

Storm also built a waterslide and anchored the party barge in the canal and his sister Sandy supplied a homemade train for the kids to take rides on along with the grand prize of a weekends stay at Snowy Waters Lodge, Raetihi.
